Easy Matar Paneer Recipe






Ingredients


 1 cup shelled green peas/matar
200 gms cottage cheese/paneer, cut in cubes
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 tbs of garlic, ginger and green chilli,finely chopped
1 cup tomato puree
4 tbs of cashew nut and poppy seeds/khus khus paste (soak both cashew and poppy seeds in 2 tbs lukewarm water for 10 minutes and grind into a fine paste, along with the soaked water)
1 tsp cumin/jeera
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 th tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
1 tsp kasuri methi
1 tsp coriander leaves, finely chopped, for garnishing
1/4 cup water.
4 tsp oil


Method



In a pan, heat oil, add cumin and let it splutter.
Add onion and fry for few seconds.
Add ginger, garlic and green chilli and fry for a minute 
Add tomato puree and fry for another 2 minutes.
Add salt, chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and turmeric, mix well, cover and cook for 3 minutes on medium flame.
 Open the lid and once the oil starts to separate,add cashew-Khus khus paste, mix well, then cover and cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.
Add peas and mix well with the masala,again cover and cook for a minute,then add  water and cover the pan again  and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame..
Add paneer,mix well and then add kasuri methi.
Turn off the stove and garnish the matar paneer with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with roti/rice.
